First school visit
Greetings from rainy Japan! We had a very rainy day today weather wise, but a great school visit. Today we visited Sakubara Elementary/Junior High school. This is the smallest school in population in Amami with 20 students in all! It is up on the top of a mountain. The students were very friendly and spoke excellent English. We all made our introductions and then broke into groups to interact. The students shared information cards and asked our students questions.. Next they played a game of Pictionary before everyone participated in a calligraphy lesson where they learned to write using Kanji. Everyone is doing well, learning much, and having fun, and making friends.
We also had a special treat this morning as the students gathered to eat some delicious sakura mochi made by Briceida's host mother. We then took a short trip to Green Store and Daiso.
