Comparing American and Japanese Schools

I am attending Asahi Jr. High Schoo with Preston and Madison. We have gone to school for two days. Although classes are very similar to ours, it is also very different. Below are the ways they are different:
1. All students must take shoes off and put slippers on when inside the school building. When they go to gym class they have a separated pair of gym shoes.
2. They have different classes (1st period, 2nd period, etc) but instead of students going to the teacher's room, the teachers come to the student's classroom. The only time that students switch classes is when they go to electives.
3. Lunch is very different. Students bring the lunch to the classrooms and serve it. Once everyone is served everyone has to say "Itadakimas" and then they eat. Once everyone is done eating, then all say "Goschi so sama deshita" which means thank you for preparing for me, and then we have to wash our trays and the students take everything back to the kitchen.
4. The middle school starts at 8:00 and is over at 4:00 pm. Everyone walks to school. Oh, every school has a swimming pool as they all have to take swimming lessons as it is required.
5. You can NOT take any electronics what so ever to school! There is only one projector per school, so teachers must teach with out a projector. There are no computers in the classroom. All the teachers have a desk in one big room. That is where they must prepare lessons and grade papers.
After school my mom had to work, so Preston's mom (who's is pretty cool) picked up Madison and I and we went to his house. Preston cooked for his host family! His host mom was so happy she almost cried! (he made microwavable macaroni and cheese) Then we ate snacks that she put out for us. Around 7:30 we went to eat at a Ramen shop which was yummy! We then went home to our own homes to get ready for bed.
It was a great day! We enjoyed our school visit very much!
